Visa+ Expansion Unites PayPal, Venmo for Easy P2P Payments

Visa has announced that PayPal and Venmo are now offering its Visa+ peer-to-peer (P2P) payment system, marking a significant expansion of cross-platform money movement capabilities. Current and Western Union will also join the service, broadening the interoperability and convenience of P2P and business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions. By this fall, companies like Astra, Brightwell, Cross River Bank, and Fiserv are set to integrate Visa+ APIs to enhance their digital wallet and merchant services. This move aims to save time for consumers, provide more payment choices, drive customer engagement for P2P platforms, and open new growth avenues for merchants and FinTech enablers by facilitating payouts to gig workers, creators, and marketplace participants. The trend toward P2P payments is especially prevalent among younger generations, who are increasingly turning to these platforms for their convenience in managing finances amid rising costs due to inflation.
