Millions will see changes in their benefit payments next month due to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) adjusting dates for 12 different benefits. These adjustments will affect various payments, including Universal Credit, due to the August bank holiday. Many households are transitioning to Universal Credit from other benefits because of "managed migration" or the ongoing cost of living crisis. By March, half a million households on Working Tax Credit or Child Tax Credit had shifted to Universal Credit. The changes will impact individuals whose payments are scheduled over the August bank holiday, with payments typically brought forward to the preceding Friday. Affected benefits include Attendance Allowance, Carer's Allowance, Child Benefit, Disability Living Allowance, ESA, Income Support, JSA, Pension Credit, PIP, State Pension, Tax Credits, and Universal Credit. Payment dates will be adjusted as follows: those due on August 24, 25, or 26 will be paid on August 23. Claimants should check their bank accounts for pending payments and report any issues before the bank holiday weekend. Some banks, like Monzo, offer features to receive payments early, which can be useful during such periods.
