Fitch Ratings announced that the recent cyberattack on UnitedHealth's tech unit, Change Healthcare, which disrupted U.S. pharmacy operations, is not expected to negatively affect the credit ratings of not-for-profit hospitals. Fitch believes that as long as the affected healthcare providers can swiftly resume normal operations and have sufficient cash reserves, there will be no adverse rating implications. The cyberattack, initially reported on February 21 and thought to be the work of a nation-state, was later attributed to the "Blackcat" ransomware group. Change Healthcare, critical to the U.S. insurance claim process, handles about half of the medical claims in the country.
