Shoppers Embrace Buy Now, Pay Later for Holiday Spending

A recent survey conducted by Morning Consult and Afterpay reveals that nearly one-third of American shoppers are considering utilizing Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) options for their holiday purchases this season. Specifically, 30% of the 2,226 adult respondents indicated that they would likely use BNPL, with 23% stating that it helps them manage their holiday budgets more effectively. Among those planning to use BNPL, a significant 57% expressed intentions to rely on this payment method even more than in previous years. The trend is particularly pronounced among younger demographics, with 41% of Gen Z respondents and 42% of millennial parents deeming BNPL essential for their holiday shopping. This shift in shopping behavior underscores the growing importance of flexible payment options as consumers navigate their holiday spending. Retailers that adapt to these changing consumer preferences are likely to thrive in this evolving marketplace.
