Sainsbury's experienced a technical issue due to an overnight software update that resulted in the cancellation of the majority of its online grocery deliveries for Saturday, 16 March. The issue also affected contactless payments in over 1,400 stores. The supermarket chain has since resolved the contactless payment problem and stated that the online delivery system is functioning normally again. Customers affected by the missed deliveries have not been charged, and Sainsbury's plans to offer a voucher as a goodwill gesture. Customers are advised to use cash or remember their PIN for in-store purchases until the issue is fully resolved.
