Poor Credit, Poor Mental Health: The Hidden Connection

A recent survey by BadCredit.org reveals a significant link between poor credit scores and mental health issues. Conducted with 500 adults across the United States, the survey found that 62% of participants believe that improving their credit score could enhance their confidence and overall mental well-being. The findings indicate that nearly 49% of respondents have experienced stress or anxiety due to their low credit scores, while 46% avoid checking their scores out of fear and worry. Additionally, 44% feel embarrassed discussing their credit status with others. The survey also highlighted risky financial behaviors associated with mental health struggles, such as late bill payments and compulsive shopping. Despite these challenges, 69% of respondents are actively working to improve their credit scores. The results underscore the urgent need for resources that support both financial and mental health, as individuals strive to regain control over their financial futures.
