A husband and wife from Paw Paw, Illinois, were arrested after allegedly defrauding a truck driver out of $28,000 through a series of fake repair invoices. The couple, Scott and Marie Krueger, purchased a 2011 Freightliner and took it to their own repair shop, Krueger’s Parts and Repair, for inspection and repairs. Over several months, the truck driver made multiple payments totaling $28,000 for parts and labor, believing the repairs were legitimate. However, an investigation revealed that the invoices provided by the Kruegers were falsified, mimicking legitimate companies in the truck parts industry. The couple was charged with theft by deception and seven counts of forgery. Following their arrest on August 11th, they were released and are set to appear in court later this month. This case highlights the importance of verifying repair invoices and the potential for fraud in the trucking industry.
