Additionally, economic factors and a decrease in the resale value of commonly stolen items like home electronics have also played a role. Now, the rise of working from home is becoming a new deterrent, as burglars avoid houses with occupants and neighborhoods benefit from increased informal surveillance by residents, adding another layer of protection against crime.
