In a troubling series of events during a snowstorm in Canada, four truck drivers were cited for careless driving in two separate incidents on Highway 11. The accidents occurred on December 4th, between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m., near Driftwood and Hearst, Ontario. The first incident involved a 20-year-old truck driver who crashed into the back of another commercial vehicle while traffic was being controlled for a separate tow. This driver was charged with careless driving causing bodily harm after their passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The second incident was more severe, involving a pile-up of six commercial vehicles, leading to three drivers being charged with careless driving, although fortunately, no injuries were reported. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) emphasized the importance of caution, especially for those operating large vehicles, urging all drivers to be vigilant during winter conditions to prevent such accidents.
