The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has recently released a crucial video aimed at drivers who have lost their commercial driving privileges due to violations related to the Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse. Starting November 18, 2024, a new FMCSA regulation, known as Clearinghouse-II, mandates that all State Driver Licensing Agencies (SDLAs) must revoke commercial driving privileges for individuals marked as “Prohibited” in the Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse. As of October 1, 2024, there are a staggering 178,839 Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) holders in “Prohibited” status, with 136,224 of them yet to initiate the return-to-duty (RTD) process necessary for reinstatement. The FMCSA's video serves as an essential guide for drivers and carriers to understand the RTD process, which is vital for regaining their driving privileges. For more details on the RTD process and how to check your status in the Clearinghouse, additional resources are available.
