California Lures "Bad Monkey" with $20.6 Million Tax Incentive

The Apple TV+ series "Bad Monkey," originally filmed in the Florida Keys, is making a significant move to California for its second season, thanks to a lucrative $20.6 million state tax incentive. This decision comes as part of a broader initiative by California, which has allocated a total of $108.6 million in tax credits to various film and TV productions. Governor Gavin Newsom has indicated plans to increase the annual tax credit budget from $330 million to $750 million, aiming to bolster the recovery of the entertainment industry post-2023 strikes. The California Film Commission emphasizes that these tax credits not only support the film industry but also stimulate local economies and create jobs. Other productions benefiting from the recent tax allocations include HBO's "L.A. Nights" and an untitled series from Apple Studios. Disney is also a major recipient, securing credits for four projects totaling $43.5 million.
